Ode to Eternity Addressed to Time, the fourth dimension Horizons faraway resound With Thy galloping horse-hoofs; My timid heartbeats resound With their mighty reverberation. Thou advanceth with vigour: Fast, non-stop, unrestricted; Here, I watch thee and admire - Dazed, humbled, dumbfounded. Arising from the Past, unfathomed - Where doze off a million centuries; Advancing to Future, unforseen - Where await a million mysteries! From the depths of space yonder - Where quasars and nebulae wander, To the boundaries ever so bizarre - Where recede the limits forever! Rising and riding and falling in vain, As you tread on, ahead and away, OnThy path, I am but a sand grain - Life is like a dream, so short, so subtle! If only Thou givetrh me a chance - To have but one quick glance At Thy glorius shining face Hidden by the Upanishadic gold case*! I am encompassed by dimensions - By this mighty space-time abyss. Oh! Raise me beyond illusions To Thy higher hierarchy of bliss! * : "Hiranmayena paatrena sathyasyaapihitam mukham" (Eesavasya Upanishad) C. Vijayan Click here for a Malayalam translation of this Poem |
