Aretakis Instability

ABSTRACT :

The talk will be about a new found instability of near-extremal black holes. It has been claimed that it can provide a mechanism for rendering soft hair on horizon “visible” via gravitational radiation (ref: https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.121.131102). Furthermore, this could lead to interesting consequences for strongly correlated matter via holographic duality.
