Nonclassical Light From Quantum Dot-Cavity System
2022-08-24 Prof. Parvendra Kumar, IIT Madras
ABSTRACT :
The light sources emitting nonclassical light such as single photons, entangled-photon pairs and squeezed photons are the key components of various quantum technologies including quantum computer, quantum communications and quantum metrology. In recent years, a self-assembled semiconductor quantum dot embedded in a cavity has emerged as a leading source of nonclassical light. In this talk, first I will briefly introduce the relevant concepts of cavity quantum electrodynamics. Then, I shall present our recent results on the generation of single photons and squeezed photons using the quantum dot cavity system. The possible immediate future research potential in this area shall also be described.
