Title: Fabrication of Magnetic Field Sensor based on Nd3+ Doped 0.37BiScO3-0.63PbTiO3 /NZFO Magnetoelectric Laminate Composite

Abstract:
The doping by a rare-earth element on the morphotropic 0.37BiScO3-0.63PbTiO3 (BSPT) is expected to improve the piezoelectric nature due to the increase in the polarizability. This paper reports that the doping by neodymium (Nd3+) (upto 4 mol%) enhances the piezoelectric coefficient, d33, of the parent compound from 320 to 415 pC/N (for 1 mol%). Moreover, the doping transforms the ferroelectric BSPT into a relaxor ferroelectric and also modifies the ratio between the tetragonal and monoclinic phases. When formed as a laminate composite with nickel zinc ferrite (NZFO), the obtained ME coefficient attains a maximum of 12 V/(cm.Oe) at the radial resonance for the 2 mol% Nd doping. The paper studies the effect of structural, morphotropic, and impedance to understand the enhancement of ME coefficient with Nd doping. A DC and AC magnetic field sensor is fabricated using the 2 mol% Nd doped BSPT/NZFO giving a sensitivity of 28.6 microV/microT for DC and 22.1 mV/microT for AC fields, respectively.
