History
Established during 1960s, with Professor Jandhyala Sobhanadri as its Head, Microwave Laboratory has full fledged microwave test benches.
With German assistance, the microwave test benches for the frequency spectrum of 5 to 70 GHz were installed. These test benches have helped the lab to produce more than 25 Ph.D., numerous M.Sc. and M.Tech. project students. The lab has also published over 100 research papers in Refereed journals and an equal number in conferences.
Professor Sobhanadri, M.Sc., D.Sc. from Andhra University, guided more than 25 research scholars during his period 1962 - 1996 as the Head of the Lab. He retired in 1996. He served as Guest Faculty at University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.
Professor Vemuri Ramakrishna Murthy, a doctoral student of Prof. Sobhanadri, joined the laboratory as Assistant Professor in 1985. He retired as Professor in 2017.
Professor Subramanian Venkatachalam, doctoral student of Professor Sobhanadri, joined the laboratory as Assistant Professor in 1998. He is presently heading the laboratory.
Microwave Laboratory celebrated its 50th year, Golden Jubilee, in 2011.
