Diabetes mellitus is one of the serious health concerns arising from insulin deficiency and hyperglycemia. Therefore, fast, accurate, selective and reproducible detection of glucose level in human body is highly necessary for early diagnosis of many severe diseases such as diabetes, nerve degeneration, cardiovascular disease. Nanostructured materials show strong affinity towards biomolecule and acts as immobilization support for enzymes. Herein, we report a simple, cost-effective metal-oxide based catalyst for enzymatic and nonenzymatic detection of glucose. Further we have studied the effect of uniform/nonuniform distribution of nanoparticles on their response towards glucose oxidation. Interference study reveals potential for simultaneous detection of glucose and uric acid.
