I discuss the nature of control with feedback, independent of whether a controlled system is quantum or classical, and how to optimize the control policy, including greedy vs global methods and the role of machine learning. Then I discuss examples of how we use these methods for electromagnetic-pulse design for high-fidelity two-qubit gates for ions and for neutral atoms.
